~Prayer Support~

Over the course of our own struggles with crisis, trauma, illness, and just the plain ole "hard" of life, we have witnessed first hand the very real power of prayer, and the role of spiritual warfare in the lives of all believers.
Our battle is not with flesh and blood, but with the rulers and principalities of darkness. (Ephesians 6:12) Therefore we must fight our battles spiritually just as much as we fight them physically and mentally. Many of these battles are rooted in spiritual attacks from our adversary, which the Lord allows in order to acheive His perfect plan and purpose in our lives. Prayer is a mighty weapon against these spiritual forces of darkness, and opens the way for healing and freedom from all the schemes of the enemy.
The concept of spiritual warfare is controversial topic, and we do not walk in it lightly. We have been the most skeptical of skeptics. We have doubted and questioned until we were blue in the face. But when you turn to scripture, you find examples of and the command to heal the sick, and drive out unclean spirits in the power and authority given to us by Jesus Christ. Praying as part of spiritual warfare is a way of life. It is something that we should all live by, 24/7. But there are specific times in our lives when prayer and the spoken Word of God is the most powerful way to break through crisis or trauma or any other attack of the enemy.
We have witnessed this in its most glaring way in the battle again mental illness with our son. We have personally witnessed prayer bring a raging schizophrenic young man to a place of perfect peace and calm. In just one moment. Even with just one Word. Admittedly, we continue to fall complacent in these battles, and try to manage them with only medications, therapies, and behavior modification strategies. But we've been through too much, and we have seen too much, to deny the power of spiritual warfare, and prayer that renders our enemy powerless.
Prayer is the way in which God has given us the ability to be okay, even when every single thing around us is not okay. Prayer is communion with the Lord. Prayer brings God into any given situation, as we submit to being vessels of His very nature. The prayers of faith are the only path to true healing and deliverance.
